MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
The pandemic robbed many students of over a year of school. Right now, the nation is in turmoil over the direction it seems to be headed in, and leadership has degenerated into partisanship. Even if education is “back to normal,” students have missed out on vital socialization and relational growth and are still catching up in an atmosphere of fear and division. Even education is under dispute.
The “Achievement Gap” has always been a huge obstacle to success for many students but add the pandemic and increasing national discord and we find that many of our students are 5-9 months behind in Math, 6-11 months for lower income kids, and the same for reading, and 3 million students who just did now show up for virtual school. Absenteeism is a national program. Kids are just not showing up.
Project CHANGE has responded to this urgent need by recruiting a dedicated team of volunteers who seek to address these needs by mentoring those students who are struggling the most. As we start our recruitment for the coming service year, we appeal to you to spread the word about the opportunities with Project CHANGE to make a difference when it most counts. We believe there are kids out there one mentor away from success, and that mentor might be you!
